Chapter 50: Respect Is Not Given, It Is Earned

Oak & Viper

Oak stands firm, unbending,
rooted deep in the ground,
a figure of strength and permanence.
Yet his branches do not always shelter,
and his silence can feel heavy.

Beside him coils Viper —
sharp, watchful, dangerous in her quiet.
A presence that teaches caution,
a reminder that not every closeness is safe.

Together they form a part of my story,
not always gentle, not always kind,
but still a part of the forest I grew from.

Chapter 14: Blessed and Surprised!

Dreams do come true. Deep breaths! Now, where do I start?  I was feeling down due to my injury, unable to play bola for the next 2 weeks due to a contusion and concussion. Serve me right for playing back-to-back and getting kicked on my left and right cheek/jaw/head. Little did I expect a surprise.  I received a friend request from an unexpected person! I was ecstatic but wondered if it might be an accidental request. But mostly, I was shocked. And of course, happy. 21.07.2025 is the date to remember. I mustered up the courage to send a message. A lunatic's lament. My heart is in turmoil. It holds a secret, a treasure I guard fiercely, a love that only I can feel. The words I want to whisper are lost in the silence of my own heart, a love I can't express. I could never marry you, so I buried you instead. And made sure no one gets you.
